Zero Tolerance

School discipline policies that mandate harsh punishments such as suspension, expulsion, and, in many instances, referral to law enforcement for rule violations. The zero-tolerance approach removes youth from classrooms and routes them into the juvenile justice system for behavioral problems that, in the past, were adequately managed by the school system.
