Counties Are Forgiving Millions in Juvenile Detention Fees Owed By Families — But Not San Diego

There are 26 counties that are are still collecting previously charged fees that total $144 million. Of that total, $116 million comes from three counties — San Diego at $63 million, Orange at $38 million and Riverside at $15 million, according data provide by the Juvenile Law Center.
