Marsha Levick, co-founder and chief legal officer of the Juvenile Law Center in Philadelphia, said the circumstances of Dassey’s conviction should prompt Evers to intervene.

“I think the case is a travesty of justice,” she said.

Levick said clemency in Dassey’s case amounts to a “correction” in the system of justice.

“There’s just no purpose served here (in keeping Dassey in prison),” she said.
