A new policy from the Social Security Administration (SSA) went into effect on August 1st to allow foster youth of all ages with disabilities to apply for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits six months before they leave care. This policy will remain in effect for one year, after which SSA will evaluate its success and make any necessary modifications.

Providing high quality training and technical assistance is key to advancing Juvenile Law Center’s mission. From August 12-14, thought leaders in child welfare, juvenile justice, and family law will gather in Philadelphia for the National Association of Counsel for Children’s (NACC) Annual  Child Welfare, Juvenile, and Family Law Conference. 

Delaware's Office of Defense Services, along with a coalition of criminal justice groups, helped pass several pieces of important juvenile justice legislation in 2016.
