In re S.T.

Juvenile Law Center filed an amicus brief in support of S.T.’s Petition for Review in the Supreme Court of Texas. The trial court transferred S.T. from the juvenile justice system to the adult justice system based on a finding that he had the “sophistication and maturity” of an adult offender. Our brief urged the court to grant review and argued that “sophistication and maturity” is a term of art that requires interpretation according to the vast adolescent development science and research.

The Supreme Court of Texas denied review.
