Communications Internship - Summer

Position Summary

The Communications Internship will focus on marketing, educational and collateral materials for Juvenile Law Center – the first nonprofit public interest law firm for children’s rights in the country. Interns will work with the Director of Communications to create limited content for social media, join key meetings with coalition partners and staff, update website statistics, and develop materials for campaigns. The position supports the Communications Department’s work to spread the message of Juvenile Law Center and bring the public into our issues. 

This position is unpaid.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and publish social media content supporting campaign efforts
  • Organize and maintain digital media assets
  • Capture photos for internal and external use
  • Assist with website updates and basic research
  • Participate in social media video content

Deliverables

By the end of the internship, the intern will have produced:

  • Content for updated Debt Free Justice social posts, 
  • Updated web statistics, 
  • Updated fixes to broken links, 
  • Graphic design posts for general content, 
  • Free use photo selections

Supervision and Support

  • The intern will report to the Director of Communications
  • Weekly check-ins to receive task clarification, feedback, and direction 
  • Intern will receive training on Juvenile Law Center talking points and style guide

Qualifications 

Required

  • Canva
  • Basic social media familiarity 
  • Interest in racial justice work 

Preferred

  • WYSIWYG website use

Time Commitment & Flexibility

  • 10–15 hours per week
  • Flexible scheduling to accommodate other commitments
  • This position may be either remote or hybrid with in-person hours at our Philadelphia office.
