Stoneleigh Youth Advocacy Fellowship

Stoneleigh Youth Advocacy Fellows are individuals with lived experience in the juvenile legal or family policing systems who work alongside legal teams on significant policy advocacy.  Stoneleigh Youth Advocacy Fellows work with staff and community stakeholders to partner on advocacy efforts to ensure youth voice is centered in Juvenile Law Center’s work.

In 2024, we welcomed our inaugural class of Stoneleigh Youth Advocacy Fellows. Each worked with a designated legal team to advance policy goals. In addition to being an important member of the team, the fellows engaged in impactful work:

  • Alexandria created a series of educational videos on transfer of youth to the adult system

  • Bree advocated for a statewide Ombudsperson in Pennsylvania to address harms children face in institutional settings

  • Jihid conducted focus groups with youth to understand the harm of coercive interrogation practices

  • Aqilah advocated for the elimination of fines and fees nationally, and deepened partnerships with youth advocates in Pennsylvania and Kansas to accomplish these goals

In January 2026, we are excited to welcome our next cohort of Fellows. More information about how to apply will be available on our Careers page.
