Eligibility

General Eligibility

All orders issues under the Child Protection Act automatically expire when the child turns 18. A court shall consider, prior to the child’s 18th birthday, whether and for how long to extend care or transitional services, up until the child turns 21. Wyo. Stat. § 14-3-431(3).

Re-Entry

Wyoming law does not allow for re-entry.

Subsidies

Eligibility for Extended Adoption Assistance

Adoption assistance may extend to age 21 if the youth has a “mental or physical handicap which warrants continued assistance,” and Department staff gives prior approval. WYO. DEP’T OF FAMILY SERVS., POLICY MANUAL – SUBSIDIZED ADOPTION POLICY, Policy No. IV-E-09-003(I)(B)(3)(g).

Eligibility for Extended Guardianship Assistance

Wyoming statutes and policy do not address extension of subsidized legal guardianship
