If you are between 14 and 17 and have not graduated from high school or obtained a GED, you must have a work permit to be legally employed in Pennsylvania. If you are under 14, you cannot work legally in most jobs in Pennsylvania.
Contact your school’s guidance counselor for an application for a work permit. You will need a parent or guardian to come to school and sign the application. If they cannot come, a caseworker may be able to sign it instead. If you are under 16 you will also need to have your place of employment fill out a section on the application.
