The 20th Annual Pennsylvania Permanency Conference, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare's Office of Children, Youth and Families, focuses on ways families and professionals from all aspects of the child welfare system can support one another and work together to achieve permanent connections for all children and youth.
At the conference, Supervising Attorney Jennifer Pokempner will receive the "Permanency Advocate Recognition" award for her contributions to promoting permanency for Pennsylvania's children.
On the second day of the conference, Staff Attorney Emily Keller will co-present the workshop "Youth in Transition: Tips, Tools and Techniques" with Justin Lee of the Pennsylvania Child Welfare Resource Center. The workshop will educate participants on the newest laws (including Fostering Connections) and court rules impacting older foster youth as well as strategies to engage youth in planning and advocacy.

The 20th Annual Pennsylvania Permanency Conference, Illuminating Lives, focuses
on ways families and professionals from all aspects of the child welfare system can
support one another and work together to achieve permanent connections for all
children and youth.
The conference serves as a forum to train participants who will prepare children and
families for their journey through the child welfare system towards permanency.
The conference is designed to educate and support current and prospective
foster and adoptive families, kinship care providers, permanent legal custodians,
attorneys, child welfare professionals and others with a vested interest in
permanency for children. The conference is a focal point for networking and sharing
information to increase the knowledge base for children and youth issues in special
needs adoptions and permanency. Waiting families are welcome to meet directly
with agency workers who are looking for families for the children they represent
during our Matching Brunch. The “Matching Room,” has long been a huge success
and it focuses on children waiting for families and families who are still waiting
for children. Additional support resources are on display as well throughout the
